MARION COUNTY — A 51-year-old Kinmundy man was sentenced today in Marion County Court to a combined 8-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty to manufacture with the intent to deliver cannabis and felony driving while license revoked.

Wally West was charged in 2014 with Class 2 felony possession/use of a firearm by a felon on parole, as well as Class 3 felony manufacture with the intent to deliver between 30-500 grams of cannabis.

He pleaded guilty Tuesday to the lesser Class 3 charge in exchange for the more serious Class 2 charge being dismissed and was sentenced to 5-years in prison on that charge. He additionally pleaded guilty to felony driving while license revoked and was sentenced to 3-years in prison on that charge to be served consecutively to the 5-year sentence.

Separate cases against West charging Class 2 delivery of less than 5-grams of meth, Class 3 felony possession of less than 5-grams of meth, Class 4 obstruction, and Class 3 production of between 20-50 cannabis plants were also dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

In addition to his prison sentence, West will have to serve on-year mandatory supervised release, also known as parole, and pay more than $4,000 in fines, fees and court costs.
