JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced this week in Jefferson County to 5-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty to felony burglary.

Anthony Finney was arrested in October for a September 28 burglary in Woodlawn. The court Tuesday approved Finney for the Impact Incarceration Program, more commonly known as “boot camp.”

At the time of his arrest, Finney was already on probation, having been released from the Jacksonville Correction Center in August 2014, after being convicted in 2013 on two felony counts of burglary and one of felony theft in Franklin County.

He was already facing petitions to revoke probation on the two burglary convictions, due to allegedly previous violations.

Finney was arrested with 20-year-old Joseph Ashleman for the Woodlawn burglary. Ashleman pleaded guilty last week to felony burglary and was sentenced to 30 months probation, and 54 days in jail with credit for 54 days served.
