SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Bruce Rauner has tapped funds from a small state agency to pay vendors amid the budget crisis.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the Illinois Finance Authority board voted Thursday to take $12 million from the $17 million is has in the bank to pay vendors as early as Friday.

The agency usually arranges loans for hospitals, municipalities and farms.

The board also discussed issuing bonds of up to $115 million for further payments to vendors.

Finance Authority Executive Director Christopher Meister says a request to help pay overdue bills came from Rauner’s Office of Management and Budget.

Up to $3 million will go to finance 911 emergency-dispatch services and as much as $3 million will be allocated to other vendors.
