MARION COUNTY — Bail has been set at $250,000 Monday in Marion County Court, for a 24-year-old Salem man charged with manufacturing methamphetamine with a child present at a home in the 1100 block of North Miller in Salem.

According to court records, Todd Murray was formally charged Monday with Class X felony aggravated manufacture of less than 15 grams of meth, with a child present and Class 2 felony possession of meth manufacturing material.

Murray was arrested Sunday when sheriff’s deputies were reportedly following up on information regarding Pseudoephedrine purchases made by a 19-year-old Kell man, Chalin Carpenter, who was reportedly staying at the North Miller home where a mobile meth lab was reportedly found within feet of baby care items.

A 7-month old baby was reportedly inside the home when deputies arrived. The baby and a female occupant of the home were both escorted outside while the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team worked to clean the home of meth-related dangers.
