WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 29-year-old Maplewood, Missouri man was sentenced Tuesday in Washington County Court to 4-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty to one of four counts stemming from a high-speed chase on Interstate 64 in August.

Harvey A. Jacobs Jr, pleaded guilty to Class 1 felony aggravated driving under the influence for a fifth time, in exchange for three Class 4 felony charges being dismissed for aggravated DUI while license suspended or revoked, driving while license suspended or revoked, and aggravated fleeing police at more than 21 miles over the limit.

Jacobs was arrested after he led law enforcement on a high-speed chase on I-64, first heading east at speeds exceeding 100 mph, then exiting briefly north onto U.S. Highway 51, before quickly returning to I-64 and heading back west, with speeds again exceeding 100 mph and running other vehicles off the road.

Jacobs ultimately lost control of his vehicle and crashed at the exit 50 ramp at Nashville, where he was promptly arrested.
