Larry Deadmond

ODIN — Larry Deadmond, 66, of Odin, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 surrounded by his family at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

picture-pubHe was born on November 2, 1949 in Mishawaka, Indiana the son of Nelson Dean and Marion Helen (Chappell) Deadmond. He married Carolyn White on November 3, 1967 in Iuka and she survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother Marion “Rosebud” Deadmond of Odin; children Tracy Lee Deadmond of Sandoval, Amber Nicole Deadmond of Odin and Joe Moore of Marion; grandchildren Justin Deadmond, Jessica Reed and husband Richard Sr., Cody Deadmond, Cameron Deadmond, Abbie Stell, and Triston Moore; great-grandchildren Caroline Reed, Richard Reed Jr., and Paisleigh Deadmond; sister Patty DeWeese and husband Tom of Sandoval; sister-in-law Sharon Wilkes of Centralia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mr. Deadmond was preceded in death by his father Nelson Dean Deadmond; brother Nelson Deadmond Jr.; brother-in-laws Jack and Vernon White; father-in-law Aaron Harrison White; and mother-in-law Ida White.

Larry retired from World Color Press and Warren G. Murry Development Center. He served in the United States Navy and in the Vietnam War. Larry also served on the Odin City Board for eight years, Marion County Board for four years, and was vice-president of the Local 554 until 1986. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in rural Odin. He enjoyed working in the yard, camping, fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services for Larry will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church.  Rev. Ray Barnes will be officiating with graveside rites following at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. Military graveside rites will be held by Centralia VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family wishes or Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.
