CENTRALIA — Centralia police are investigating an early morning armed robbery of People’s National Bank at Broadway and North Elm Street in Centralia.

Suspects are described as two black males, one wearing a blue hoodie and both wearing bandannas over their faces. They reportedly indicated they had a weapon exited the east doors of the bank with an undetermined amount of money. It’s believed they fled north from the bank, as a small amount of cash was found on the ground near St. Mary Catholic School.

St. Mary and all Centralia City Schools are on Code White lockdown at this time.

Police were first notified of a situation at the bank around 8:40 Friday morning, when a passerby notified 911 that he saw a black male was standing inside the bank with something over his face. As dispatch was informing officers of the report and they were in route to the bank, an alarm call came in from the bank.

Police Chief Doug Krutsinger says officers were on scene within moments, but the two suspects had already fled. Krutsinger is confident his officers will locate the suspects. He confirms the K-9 officer has been brought in, and notes they have very good video from the bank’s surveillance cameras.

Just before 11:30 Friday morning, State Police Crime Scene Investigations arrived at the bank to begin processing the crime scene.
