Michael Keith Frakes

CENTRALIA — Michael Keith Frakes, age 63, of Centralia, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

flag-clip-art-american-flag-wave-metalMike was born on December 9, 1951, in Mattoon, IL, a son to Morris Kenneth and Wilma (Copple) Frakes Hugo.

He is survived by special friend and companion, Donna Sweeney; a daughter, Angela Lynn Minor of Centralia; a nephew, Chris Frakes of Centralia; a niece, Jennifer Berning; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steven Frakes.

Mike began working as a locksmith in 1985 and eventually opened his own business in Centralia, Frakes Locksmith. He served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. Mike was a member of the Mustang Club and founder of the “Shop with a Cop” car show, which lasted for 13 years and raised over $70,000 for underprivileged children. He also donated to Indian Reservations throughout his life. Mike was a kind and generous man who will be greatly and sadly missed by many.

Per his wishes, cremation rites were performed. Military rites will be performed at the gravesite on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Memorial donations may be made to the Centralia American Legion in care of Wayne Sensel.
