It could be more wet than white for Christmas in Illinois.
“Right now, it looks like we may cool off toward this weekend, but it’s going to be warming up again early next week,” says Lyle Barker, a meteorologist at the Lincoln office of the National Weather Service. “We do have a couple of weather systems coming in next week, but it looks like, overall, it’s going to be mainly in the form of rain.”
It’s been warm for much of Illinois in November and December, but Barker does not pull the word karma out of his meteorological handbook.
“There is something called the law of averages,” he says. “You can definitely finish (winter) on the cold side. We are definitely not done with winter.”
