TAYLOR SPRINGS, Ill. (AP) — Two people have died after the vehicle they were riding in went off a highway and struck a tree in Montgomery County.
Illinois State Police say an 18-year-old woman was driving a vehicle north on Illinois 127 just south of Taylor Springs at about 1:55 a.m. Sunday when the car veered across the south bound lanes and hit a tree.
The State Journal-Register reports that the woman was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her passenger, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities didn’t immediately release the victims’ names.
An investigation is ongoing.
