CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says a former state representative who pleaded guilty to fraud should lose her roughly $5,000-per-month state pension.

The Chicago Tribune reports former state Rep. Connie Howard has collected almost $195,000 from her pension.
She received most of that money after pleading guilty in 2013 to soliciting $76,700 for scholarships through a charity golf outing and pocketing more than $28,800 for personal use.
The Chicago Democrat was sentenced this month to three months in prison, followed by three months of home confinement.
In a letter to the state’s legislative pension system, Madigan says Howard’s future pension checks should be terminated.
Senate Majority Leader James Clayborne is chairman of the General Assembly Retirement System. The Belleville Democrat says he expects the panel to follow Madigan’s recommendation.
