Monday morning house fire claims life of New Burnside man

fireJOHNSON COUNTY — The Illinois State Fire Marshall is investigating an overnight house fire that claimed the life of a 35-year-old Johnson County man.

Our sister station, WQRL in Benton, is reporting the fire happened at a trailer home in the 100 block of West 4th Street in New Burnside just after midnight Monday, and claimed the life of Larry Gene Littleton, Jr.

The Illinois State Fire Marshall’s office says an autopsy will take place Tuesday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters from New Burnside and Stonefort responded. When they arrived on scene, flames had engulfed the trailer.
