CHRISTIAN COUNTY — Authorities on Thursday morning were set to again search floodwaters for two Christian County men last seen around 10 p.m. Monday.

Brandon Mann and Devan Everett, both 18, were last seen at one of the men’s homes in Taylorville. Taylorville police said GPS pings from Mann’s cell phone were recorded about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday near Sangchris Lake in an area that has seen severe flooding over the last several days.

The two men are believed to have been traveling in a red 2000 Ford F150. Taylorville police are seeking the public’s help in locating the men.

Christian County ESDA Coordinator Mike Crews said boats with divers were set to go out about 8 a.m. Thursday to continue the search that had been suspended at dark on Wednesday.

And in Murphysboro, a family had to be rescued from their home after high water trapped them inside.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Keebler Lane in Murphysboro just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
When deputies arrived, the water was too deep to cross with a four-wheel drive vehicle. Members of the Murphysboro Pomona Somerset Fire Department were called in to bring a small boat.

The family and their dogs were rescued safely. No injuries were reported.
