EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) — Fire officials in East St. Louis say three people died, including a man, woman and boy, in a house
fire.
East St. Louis Fire Chief James Blackmon identified those who died in the Sunday afternoon blaze as Kendra Williams, Chantez Reynolds and Jayden Harris.
East St. Louis Assistant Fire Chief Todd Hill says some residents were able to get out of the house. But he described the house “was a big ball of fire” when crews arrived and says smoke was pouring from the building. Hill says the victims’ bodies were found in a bedroom.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office was on the scene and is investigating the cause.
