WAYNE COUNTY — Illinois State Police were investigating a single car crash on Interstate-64 in Wayne County early Sunday morning when another driver crashed into the scene, injuring all vehicle occupants, including a responding state trooper.

Officials say 23-year-old Kelsee M. Sellers, of Draper, Utah, lost control of the truck she was driving on the icy roadway, causing the vehicle to go off the road and into the grassy median, where it struck a guardrail.

Sellers and a passenger, 56-year-old Julie Mitchell, also of Draper, were not injured during the initial crash.
Sellers and Mitchell were seated in the ISP trooper’s vehicle while he was outside the vehicle investigating the crash.

Another truck, driven by 47-year-old R. Scott Nicks, of Borden, Indiana, was traveling eastbound on I-64 at that time.
When Nicks approached the crash scene, he lost control of his vehicle on the icy road, striking Sellers’ truck.

Nicks, Sellers, Mitchell, 66-year-old Donald E. Druin, of Louisville, Kentucky — a passenger in the Nicks vehicle — and the investigating trooper all received non-life threatening injuries due to the second crash.

Nicks, Druin, Sellers and Mitchell were transported by Wayne County Ambulance to an area hospital.
The trooper drove to the hospital.

Both vehicles had to be removed from the scene.
