Larry M. Hayes

CENTRALIA — Larry M. Hayes, 74 of Centralia, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home.

He was born September 4, 1941 in Centralia, a son to Maxie and Avanelle (Glosser) Hayes. He married Jean Dublin in 1962 and they later divorced.

Larry is survived by a his companion Esty Garland of Centralia; son Todd Hayes and wife Amy of Freeburg, Ill.; a daughter, Obit Pic BestDeAnn Bauer and companion Rob Smith of Belleville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Sam Hayes, Mark Bauer, Adam Bauer, Kristen “Christian” Orrill and Stephen Garland; a great-grandson, Thomas Bauer; one sister, Linda Mentzer and husband Tom of Millstadt, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Belshe and Sharon Hayes; and a brother-in-law, John Belshe.

Larry served in the National Guard for two years. He was a member of the Centralia Elks Lodge #493. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Most of all Larry loved spending time with his family, friends and his four-legged companion, Buddy.

Funeral Services for Larry Hayes will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be made to Mended Little Hearts and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
