PATOKA — Alva Eugene Myrick, 78, of Patoka, passed away February 5, 2016 at his home.
He was born the son of Chester and Alberta (Morris) Myrick on August 20, 1937 in Lovette, Indiana. He married Maxine Saddler on May 22, 1959 in New Albany, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife Maxine Myrick of Patoka; daughter Sandra Kay Henson and husband Johnnie of Patoka; grandchildren James Tidwell and wife Virginia, Joshua Bishop and wife Amanda, and Matthew Myrick; step-grandchildren Jennifer Cook and Sasha Stone; great-grandchildren Krista Tidwell, Jami Tidwell, Aedan, Wyatt, Bryan, Ian, Brody, Jordan; many step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren; half-brother Nelson Higgason of Indiana; special friend Brandy Smith of Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and son Dennis Myrick in 2014. Mr. Myrick worked at World Color Press for over 30 years. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, mowing, and most of all spending time outside in the sunshine. He was an excellent handyman that could fix just about anything and remolded several homes. He treasured the time spent with his animals and family. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father.
Services for Mr. Myrick will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2015 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Monday. Burial will follow at Patoka City Cemetery with Pastor David Rogers officiating.
