An early Sunday morning fire reportedly destroyed a rural Carlyle home despite efforts of firefighters from multiple departments.

Carlyle; Huey, Ferrin and Boulder; along with Hoffman and Beckemeyer firefighters responded before dawn to a report of a fully involved structure fire in the 12000 block of Edna Mae Lane in Carlyle.

The home reportedly owned by a District 12 teacher, was a total loss. Donations to help the family can be dropped off with Heather Skelton Todd at the District 12 office in Breese. Monetary donations or gift cards would be appreciated as the family has lost everything and will soon need to find a house or apartment to live in while they rebuild.

Then around 12:20 Monday morning, Salem firefighters were called out to provide mutual aid to Kell firefighters at a structure fire on Rileyville Road in rural Dix.

Upon arrival the fire had consumed almost half of the Jones’ modular home. Firefighters remained on the scene until around 2:30 Monday morning. The home was deemed a total loss.
