In exchange for his guilty plea, two counts First Degree Murder against Marventi D. Palmer were dismissed and Palmer pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder.

Palmer’s sentence will run consecutively to a 20-year prison sentence he’s currently serving on a 2013 drug conviction in Jefferson County.

He will first serve his first sentence, which likely won’t end until at least Jan. 14, 2022, before the 10 year sentence will begin. Once the new sentence begins, Palmer will be eligible for day-for-day credit.

Deon Feggins was 15 when on August 8, 2010; he was shot multiple times while riding his bike in the 1800 block of Conger Avenue.

The investigation into Feggins murder went cold for more than three years before Mt. Vernon police tied Palmer to the scene of the crime.
