CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan has formed a bipartisan committee to review the privately run and funded economic development corporation created by Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner to attract new businesses to the state.

The Democratic House speaker announced the creation of the committee Wednesday, saying it’s necessary to ensure transparency with the agency Rauner launched earlier this month through executive order.

Rauner created the Illinois Business and Economic Development Corporation to work with the state’s commerce agency in offering incentives to companies. Rauner says the corporation will draw on private sector resources with proper checks and balances in place for their work.

Still, Democrats have expressed concerns about transparency.
