The department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert Monday, advising consumers to throw possibly contaminated chicken away or return it to the place of purchase.

The 38 ounce (2.975 pound) boxes of Yummy brand fully cooked Chicken Breast Nuggets were produced in Canada and have a best if used date of 07/17/17, the alert states. The product is labeled as “100% All Natural * | Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Patty Fritters with rib meat PRODUCT OF CANADA.”

The chicken nuggets were produced in July 2015, and imported to the U.S. between July 30, 2015 and March 5, 2016, officials said. The nuggets were shipped to stores across the U.S. and can be found at retailers such as Kroger, Walmart and Safeway, officials said.

Affected packages bear establishment number “Canada Est. 348” and UPC number 064563225782.

The recall was prompted after a consumer from the U.S. complained to Maxi Canada Inc. of a foreign object in the product, officials said. The company initiated the recall March 5.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, officials said. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness potentially associated with the recalled product should contact a health care provider
