Edith Jane (Evans) Jacke

CENTRALIA — Edith Jane (Evans) Jacke, 90, of Centralia, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Centralia Manor.

She was born April 2, 1925 in Centralia, the daughter of Charles and Blanche (Heininger) Evans. She married William E. Jacke on December 16, 1941 in Centralia, and he preceded her in death April 10, 2005.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Gertrude Lear.

Mrs. Jacke enjoyed reading and traveling. She visited many foreign countries, including Europe, Egypt, and China. She was a graduate of Springfield Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a cadet nurse during WW II. She retired 1985 from Warren G. Murray Developmental Center. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. She was Centralia Regional Library Capital Campaign Room Sponsor. She served in the American Legion Auxiliary Post 446; Centralia past President of Auxiliary; Past Presidents Parley; American Legion Auxiliary Marion-Clinton Salon number 347, 8 and 40; V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2055 Centralia and Rebekah Lodge 596 Past Noble Grand of Lodge; Past Noble Grands Club of 596; District President 1993 Rebekah District Association 25; Egyptian Past Presidents Club; Past Presidents Club of Illinois American Legion Auxiliary; American Association of Retired Persons; Friends of the Library Charter Club.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at the funeral home.
