EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville who had locked himself out of his car summoned campus police for help and instead ended up getting arrested.

Officers running a routine identity check discovered that 24-year-old Daniel J. Glauber was wanted in Phelps County, Missouri, on drug charges for allegedly growing marijuana plants in his home closet.

The (Alton) Telegraph reports that police then brought in a drug-sniffing dog and found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car.

Glauber was being held at the Madison County Jail while awaiting transport to Missouri.

Online court records do not indicate whether he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
