BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — A McLean County judge has been suspended without pay for four months and another has been censured over their extramarital affair.

The Illinois Courts Commission handed down the discipline Friday against Judges Scott Drazewski and Rebecca Foley. The Pantagraph reports Drazewski’s suspension will begin May 1st.

The allegations against Drazewski focused on his decision to handle several cases, including a trial, in which Foley’s husband, Bloomington lawyer Joe Foley, was involved. The Courts Commission said in its 39-page ruling Drazewski was required to recuse himself from cases involving Joe Foley and his conduct was “egregious.”

Eleventh Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Kevin Fitzgerald said in a statement “the court respects the Judicial Inquiry Board and its process and accepts the Courts Commission’s decision.”

Drazewski and Foley, both divorced, have said they planned to continue their relationship.
