ENERGY, Ill. — Two Mt. Vernon men were arrested over the weekend Williamson County for multiple drug-related offenses.
According to Energy Police Chief Shawn Ladd, 26-year-old Theodore Jefferson and 21-year-old Marty McCluskey were arrested Saturday after a traffic stop revealed the two allegedly in possession of drugs.
Ladd says after an initial investigation, officers allegedly found Jefferson and McCluskey were in possession of 2-3 grams of suspected crack and more than a half-pound of cannabis along with more than $800 in cash.
Both men were taken to the Williamson County Jail and have each been charged in Williamson County Court with Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis.
McCluskey remains in custody, however, Jefferson, who was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections at the time of the traffic stop, was released for unknown reasons.
