LORAINE, Ill. (AP) — A 5-year-old boy from western Illinois has died after he was reported missing near Loraine and found in a drainage ditch.

Adams County Coroner James Keller says Zachary K. Robinson was taken to a Quincy hospital where he died in the emergency room at 9:22 p.m. Monday. The Quincy Herald-Whig reports the boy was the son of Ben and Emily Robinson of Mendon.

Keller says an autopsy is planned Tuesday in Bloomington.

Officials say Zachary was playing outside with two older siblings when he went exploring and started throwing rocks into the drainage ditch. He then fell in. At least 30 searchers looked for the boy before he was found in the ditch. Water rescue teams were requested to search the drainage ditch where the boy was found.
