JACKSON COUNTY — Carbondale Police have made an arrest and are seeking two other people in connection with a fatal shooting early Sunday morning in Carbondale that took the life of a 41-year-old former Centralia man, Tim Beaty.

Police say 21-year-old Dwayne J. Dunn of St. Louis was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm. He is set to appear in Jackson County Court this afternoon.

He is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bond. Police are also looking for two black men who are believed to be the primary suspect in the shooting.

Beaty was struck by a stray bullet while in his home. He was found unresponsive as officers were investigating the shooting incident that had left one other person with a non-life threatening gunshot sound. Beaty was taken to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, where he was pronounced dead. He is survived by his wife Jessica, 5-year-old Jacob, and parents Don Beaty and Kittie McMillan.

The other person who was also shot, but injured, was taken to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale and later transferred to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.
