Bessie M. Jackson

CENTRALIA — Bessie M. Jackson, 91, of Centralia, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

Bessie was born on June 29, 1924 in Irvington, daughter to James McKinzie and Carrie Mae (Raines) McKinzie. On June 28, 1942, she married Robert W. Jackson in Maplewood, Mo., and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2015.

Obituary Picture(3)She is survived by two daughters, Lynette Murray of Centralia, and Bobbie McBride and husband Oren of Evansville, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Courter of Terra Haute, Ind.; one brother-in-law, John Jackson and wife Rose of Centralia; two sisters-in-law, Donna Jackson of Centralia, and Elisabeth Jackson of Centralia; nine grandchildren, Cheryl Dunn and husband John, Tim McBride and friend Ben Ashley, Chris McBride and wife Jenny, Robert Murray and wife Christi, Tracy Whitlock and fiancé Chris Folmsbee, Lisa Hill and husband Jason, Melanie Wathan and husband Jack, Jessica Tate and husband Dan, and Julie McCoy and husband Josh; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous dear nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Billy Dale Jackson, who was killed in Vietnam in 1968, and Kevin Jackson, who passed in 2006, after battling cancer for ten years; two sisters, Louise Scoggins and Vernell Harding; five brothers-in-law, James Jackson, Kenneth Jackson, Donald Jackson, Billy Jackson, and Lee Harding; two sisters-in-law, Maimie Jackson and Mary Jackson.

Bessie was of the Protestant faith. Bessie’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services for Bessie Jackson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with John Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and will be received at the funeral home.
