Christopher Cook has already been sentenced in Richland County to 4-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he was convicted in April of Class 2 possession of child pornography. That sentence will have to be served consecutively to any sentence imposed in Marion County.

Cook pleaded guilty today in Marion County to two Class X felony charges child pornography for allegedly disseminating a film depicting children under 13 in sexual conduct.  Sentencing on those two charges is scheduled for July 27, following the completion of a pre-sentencing investigation.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, which handled the investigation and prosecution, Cook is facing up to 30 years in prison on each of the two counts and that sentence will have to be served consecutively to the sentence in Richland County.

The other 12 charges against cook remain pending, and include three other Class X felony charges of child pornography for allegedly disseminating a film depicting children under 13 in sexual conduct, as well as nine charges of possession of child pornography based on images found on his cell phone.

Cook has remained in the Marion County Jail since his November 2014 arrest, with bail set at $150,000.

The charges against Cook in both Marion and Richland counties came following an investigation by the Illinois Attorney General’s High Tech Crimes Bureau.

High Tech Team used subpoenas from an internet provider to track Cook’s IP address after he allegedly downloaded a video featuring child pornography from a known child pornography site. Another search warrant reportedly revealed more child pornography on Cook’s phone.
