Teddy E. “Ted” Bonner

DIX, Ill. — Teddy E. “Ted” Bonner, 77, of Dix, Ill., passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Ted was born on June 6, 1939 in Centralia, the son of Ralph V. Bonner and Thelma (Patterson) Bonner. He married Katherine “Kathy” (Lewison) Bonner on March 10, 1962 in Minneapolis, Minn., and she survives him.

Teddy Bonner Obit PicIn addition to his wife he is survived by three sons Steve Bonner and wife Suzanne of McLeansboro, David Bonner of Washington D.C., and Dan Bonner and wife Verna of Walnut Hill, Ill.; one daughter Sherrie Cox and husband Joe of Portland Oregon; seven grandchildren Alexis Thompson, Erin Bonner, Joshua Bonner, Andrea Belfiore, Lynsey McNew, and Trisha and Ben Cox; three great-grandchildren; one brother Jim Bonner and wife Nancy of Carterville; and one sister-in-law Pat Bonner of Grand Island, Nebraska.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Julia Ann Bonner; and a brother Ralph “Bob” Bonner Jr.

Ted served four years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for ICG/CN Railroad as a Carman Welder for 40 years. Ted enjoyed going fishing and hunting. He loved any type of wildlife and enjoyed going on walks through the woods with his four legged companion Molly. Ted was a member of the Boyd Christian Church. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.

Graveside services for Teddy “Ted” E. Bonner will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at Boyd Cemetery in Boyd, Ill., with Pastor Jeff VanMeter officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorial Donations may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, the Centralia Humane Society, or to the Boyd Christian Church after school program and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia which is assisting the family with arrangements.
