CENTRALIA — A weekend traffic stop landed a 21-year-old Carlyle man in the Marion County jail on multiple drug charges and on an outstanding Clinton County warrant.

Luke Whitaker was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Centralia police Saturday night.

Whitaker was initially taken into custody on the arrest warrant charging him with failure to appear in a cannabis possession case.

Police say a search, however, resulted in Whitaker also being arrested for alleged possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis, possession of a narcotic instrument, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he awaits the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
