SALEM — The Salem Police Department says it recently conducted a sex offender registration compliance check.

Of the 22 sex offenders residing in Salem, 17 were found to be in compliance. Four of the others were arrested by the Salem Police Department for various registration violations.

Clayton Worley was already in custody prior to the verification process. Stephen Johnston, Christopher Waldon, and Russell Wimberly were all arrested for different registration violations, and Jearald Phillips was arrested for a registration violation.

According to Salem PD, these checks must be completed at least once a year. However, the Salem Police Department conducts them twice per year.
