RANTOUL, Ill. (AP) — Stormy weather and high winds have caused damage across central Illinois.

Rantoul Police Sgt. Justin Bouse says storms that moved through Monday night broke cable ties holding down an old C-130 transport plane at the former Chanute Air Force base. Bouse says the plane spun around and destroyed a fence. He says three trailer were flipped, billboards were flattened and trees were uprooted in the Rantoul area.

Champaign County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Coile tells The (Champaign) News-Gazette that power pole are leaning, branches are down and 5-foot-tall corn is on the ground.

Rantoul is about 15 miles north of Champaign on Interstate 57
