VANDALIA — Educators from around the state will be gathering Wednesday at the Old Capital building in Vandalia to talk about education funding and the fiscal year 17 K-12 budget.

The rally and press conference is scheduled to start at noon Wednesday, and will include nearly 40 superintendents from across Illinois. The event is open to the public.

Superintendents from the listening area will include Chuck Lane from the Centralia High School District and Vandalia Superintendent Rich Well.

They were included in a letter sent to Gov. Bruce Rauner last month from superintendents for some of Illinois’ most struggling school districts, including Sandoval Community Unit School District 501.

The education leaders will also discuss issues that will come up if no funding is approved for the new fiscal year that starts Friday.
