MANTENO, Ill. (AP) — A veterans’ home in central Illinois is thanking Vietnam War veterans with a weekend ceremony.

The Daily Journal reports that the Saturday event in Manteno will include a missing man ceremony, video documentaries, photo slideshows, and a display of war artifacts.

The home’s administrator, Stanley Stam, says the ceremony is a “long-awaited welcome” for veterans who were not welcomed home after the war. He says it’s also a chance to thank them for their service.

Sixty-five veterans live at the home in Manteno. The event at the Illinois Veterans Home starts at 9 a.m. and is open to the public.
