MARION COUNTY — A 30-year-old Sandoval man passed away Tuesday, the result of injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle crash last month near Colonial Golf Course in Sandoval.

Blake Edward Miller was airlifted from the scene of the crash June 18 and taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he remained with severe head injuries until his death Tuesday.

According to accident reports, Miller was a passenger in a vehicle being driven that night by 31-year-old Jared Simcox, of Kell, when the car left the roadway and Miller was ejected from the vehicle.

Simcox, who refused treatment for his injuries, was arrested for alleged driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was cited for driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

Simcox reported that he and Miller had just left a bar in Sandoval and were arguing over who should be driving, when Miller allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and jerked the car off the road.
