WABASH COUNTY — Two Walnut Hill residents are in the Wabash County Jail, following a multi-county chase in what was reported as a stolen truck.

Deputies arrested the driver of the truck, 49-year-old Mark A. Linkon and passenger 30-year-old Ashley K. Dennis both of Walnut Hill, Wednesday night for alleged felony theft. They both remain in the Wabash County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.

According to the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, the owner of the white 2003 Dodge Ram truck believed he witnessed the vehicle that he had reported stolen June 27 being driven northbound on Highway 1 in Wabash County.

The owner turned around and followed the truck while calling 911. A Wabash County Sheriff’s deputy then spotted the truck and began following the owner and the stolen truck, with the pursuit continuing into Edwards County and then into Wayne County and multiple law enforcement agencies becoming involved.

The pursuit ended when the occupants of the alleged stolen truck called 911 to report a man was following them and they confirmed the 911 dispatcher’s question if they could also see law enforcement.

They agreed to pull over and were taken into custody. The truck was towed from the scene and two dogs in the truck were taken by the Wayne County Humane Society.

Linkon made local headlines in December when he attempted to take out orders of protection against a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Marion County State’s Attorney Matt Wilzbach, Mark Linkon initially claimed deputies burned his house down, then claimed they set his Jeep on fire, but when he appeared in front of Judge Mark Kelly said he was tired of being arrested.

Judge Kelly denied Linkon’s requests as there as he has no family or household connection to the deputy and there is no basis in law for filing an order of protection against a governmental agency.
