SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation will host its 9th Annual Illinois State Police Memorial Park Motorcycle and Fun Car Run on Saturday.

The fundraising event is being held to fund the construction of a memorial park and to honor the lives of fallen Illinois State Troopers. It is an excellent opportunity for motorcycle and classic car enthusiasts to ride together in support of an important cause.

Five departure sites have been designated throughout Illinois. Police-escorted riders will travel along the scenic and historic “Route 66” and include Downers Grove, Dwight, Bloomington, O’Fallon, and Carlinville.

The final destination is the Illinois State Police FOP Lodge 41 in Springfield (I-55, Exit 90). Also, A group of bicyclists are riding across the state to raise money for families of Illinois law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

Cycle Across Illinois began yesterday morning in Alton.  The 340-mile-long ride ends Sunday in Woodstock.  Each person participating is required to raise at least $600 in donations.
