Martha A. Simcox

CENTRALIA — Martha A. Simcox, 95 of Centralia, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Fireside House in Centralia surrounded by her family.

Simcox, Martha Obit PicShe was born April 11, 1921, in Union City, Indiana, daughter of Hamilton G. Scott and Bertha (O’Neal) Scott. She married Leslie Edwards Simcox on August 1941 in Union, Missouri and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1975.

Martha is survived by two sons, Jack Simcox of Centralia and William Simcox of Centralia; a stepson, Joe Simcox of Havlock, North Carolina; grandchildren, Phyllis Blank and husband Brad of Iuka, Jodie Ramsey of Salem, BJ Simcox of Centralia, Tina Marcketti and husband Mike of Centralia, Jerry Cody of Centralia and Tammy Schrader and husband Steve of San Pierre, Ind.; 17 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren with four on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Jim Simcox and Phil Simcox; a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Wes Stuehmeier; sisters-in-law, Rettie Kelley and Ormell Simcox; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Mary Simcox; daughters-in-law, Kathy Simcox, Carol Holt, Paula Simcox and Julie Simcox; stepson, Jim Simcox; grandsons, Daniel Donoho and Brian Dodson; and great-grandsons, Blake Miller and Ezell Curry IV.

Martha was a bookkeeper for various businesses. She loved to garden, loved to fish and enjoyed cooking. Most of all she loved to spend time with family and friends.

Funeral Services for Martha Simcox will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research and will be accepted at the Sutherland – Garnier Funeral Home at 235 N. Sycamore, Centralia, Illinois 62801, which assisting the family with arrangements.
