MOUNT VERNON — A motorcycle accident on Interstate 57 near Dix sent an Indiana couple to a Mt. Vernon Hospital on Sunday morning.

Illinois State Police reports indicate that at 11:00 Sunday morning, 76-year-old William Hogan of Kokomo, Indiana, was traveling northbound near mile marker 103 when he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle. Hogan reportedly crashed into the guardrail due to uneven lanes in the construction zone causing major damage to the motorcycle.

Hogan and his wife, 72-year-old Gladys Hogan were both transported to Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon with major injuries. William Hogan was later airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
