FAYETTE COUNTY — A 62-year old Vandalia was sentenced Wednesday in Fayette County Court to 50 years in prison, after he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of child pornography.

Manuel D. Prater was arrested in June after a search warrant was served at his rural Vandalia home by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Vandalia Police Department, and Illinois Attorney General’s Office, after evidence of alleged child pornography was discovered.The Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case.

Prater was charged with seven counts Class X felony dissemination of child pornography, and 10 counts Class 2 felony possession of child pornography.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday to five of the charges against him and was sentenced to 10 years each in the Illinois Department of Corrections to be served consecutively for a total sentence of 50 years. He will have to serve 85 percent of his total sentence.
