EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Edwardsville Fire Department crews were kept busy Friday morning, rescuing at least five people trapped in their cars after flash floods.

Firefighters found three cars under water in one spot on Illinois Route 143 this morning, and one vehicle in another location.

They also rescued two people who made it to a higher dry spot after getting out of their flooded cars.

Edwardsville crews also helped the Roxana Fire Department with two rescues of people trapped in flooded vehicles.
