MARION COUNTY — The search for a 36-year-old missing Salem man ended tragically Friday afternoon, when the man was found deceased.

Tyler Phillips was last seen Monday, July 25, 2016, at the apartments across from the golf course in Salem. A search party was organized to meet Friday afternoon in Salem, and they reportedly found Phillips who was already deceased.

According to Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon, Phillips was discovered in a rural area of Marion County Friday evening and Deputy Coroner Carl Dunn pronounced him dead around 5 p.m.

Cannon adds that it appears Phillips had been dead since Monday when he initially went missing. The death is being investigated as an apparent suicide. No autopsy is planned.
