FAYETTE COUNTY — Bail has been set at $500,000 for a 34-year-old Farina man formally charged this morning in Fayette County Court with kidnapping, after he reportedly abducted his 9-year-old son in Vandalia Sunday.

Darrel K. Moulton is now facing a Class X felony charge of aggravated kidnapping of a person under the age of 13.
Moulton reportedly abducted his son Gahrett around noon Sunday from the 800 block of Sunset Drive in Vandalia. The incident ultimately resulted in an Amber Alert being issued.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the search for the pair, that was ultimately located a few hours later in rural Fayette County just south of Vandalia.
The child was unharmed and Moulton was taken to the Fayette County Jail.
He was advised in court Monday of the charge against him and ordered to file a financial affidavit to determine eligibility for a public defender. Moulton is next scheduled for an August 17, preliminary hearing.
