ODIN — A high speed crash on U.S. 50 near Farthing Road early Saturday morning resulted in a 42-year-old Salem man being hospitalized for injuries and cited for an apparent DUI.

Eric White was reportedly driving westbound on U.S. 50 through Odin Saturday morning, when he was apparently unable to negotiate the curves near Farthing Road and just after 1 a.m. ran off the roadway to the south.

White’s vehicle apparently returned back to the road, before again running off the south side of the roadway, running through the roadside ditch where it slid out of control, struck an embankment and became air borne. The vehicle then landed in the ditch where it rolled several times and came to rest on its top.

Odin firefighters responded to the scene and had to remove the windshield from White’s vehicle to free him from the wreckage. He was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment.

He was cited for driving under the influence, but could be facing other charges pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

White was traveling alone in the vehicle at the time of the one-car crash.
