St. Louis woman injured in I-70 hit-and-run with semi

EFFINGHAM COUNTY — A 28-year-old St. Louis, Missouri woman was injured Friday night, when her car was reportedly struck by a semi while traveling on Interstate 70 just west of Effingham.

According to Illinois State Police, Danielle Renee Leathers was traveling on I-70 by mile marker 88, when around 7:30 p.m. she was passing an unknown semi-tractor trailer on its left.

The Semi changed lanes into the path of the Camry striking the car which caused it to drive off the roadway to the left into the trees. The semi left the scene.

Leathers was transported by ambulance to an Effingham area hospital for treatment.
