SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — New rules mean this year’s Twilight Parade during the Illinois State Fair will likely be smaller and end earlier than in the past.

The State Journal-Register reports that this year the fair is limiting parade entrants to no more than 50 participants and adding fees, up to $150 extra to have 26 to 50 participants. The parade also will start a half-hour earlier Thursday.

State fair spokeswoman Rebecca Clark says the parade has had nearly 70 entries this year, more than officials thought they’d receive. There were 76 entries and another 17 honor guards last year.

Clark says honor guards as well as high school marching bands are exempt from the per-person fee. High school cheerleading squads are also exempt if they’re part of a band entry.
