Traffic stop near Sesser lands four in jail on drugs and weapons charges

FRANKLIN COUNTY — A traffic stop Wednesday afternoon just south of Sesser has landed four people in jail on various charges including drug and weapons offenses.

Three people were arrested during the traffic stop. Deputies reportedly discovered a large amount of meth and a loaded handgun in the car.

They arrested 36-year-old Anthony A. Granfeldt, of Valier, for alleged unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of more than 15 grams of meth, and on an outstanding IDOC warrant.

Also arrested was 25-year-old Alecia R. Soto, of Tamaroa, for alleged unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and unlawful possession of more than 15 grams of meth. And 25-year-old Shane M. Tate, of Benton, was arrested for obstructing justice.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies noticed a suspicious vehicle sitting nearby with its lights off.

That led to the fourth person, 52-year-old Steven H. Klingel, of Valier being arrested for possession of less than 5-grams of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
