SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — The Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that U.S. 50 will be restricted to one lane between Metcalf Road and Beard Road Beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, weather permitting.

The work will take place daily between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. and is necessary to make pavement repairs and construct a new asphalt surface on the route.

Delays are expected. The Department advises motorists to follow all construction signs and drive with caution throughout the work zones.

The General Contractor on the project is Howell Paving of Salem. Steve Putz in the Supervising Field Engineer for IDOT. If you have any questions concerning this project, you may contact him at 618-346-3350.

There will also be a lane reduction on Northbound Interstate 57 north of Exit 83 at milepost 84 in the Ina area starting Tuesday, August 16 and extending through Thursday, August 18, of next week.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says the work is necessary so maintenance crews can repair the structure carrying the roadway over Atchison Creek.

You are encouraged to seek other routes while the work is underway.
