CLINTON COUNTY — A hit-and-run Tuesday night near the Madison/Clinton county line sent a 31-year-old motorcyclist to the hospital in serious condition and the driver of the other vehicle to the Clinton County Jail.

According to reports, Highland-Pierron Fire Department was dispatched found 11:30 Tuesday night for a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Baumann Road and Keyesport Road near the Clinton County line.

According to fire officials, Josh Doerr, of Pocahontas, was stopped on his motorcycle at the intersection and speaking with a family member in another vehicle, when he was hit by a passing SUV that left the scene.

The motorcycle and Doerr were reportedly pushed about 50 yards south of the impact site on Baumann Road.

Doerr was ultimately air lifted to St. Louis University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He is reportedly in a coma, with a broken back, two collapsed lungs and has lost his right kidney.

The driver of the SUV was taken into custody a short time after the crash and was transported to the Clinton County Jail. That person’s identity has not been released at this time.

Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies, the St. Rose Fire Department, Highland EMS and Arch Helicopter assisted HPFD at the scene.
